Book Design

I present a multifaceted exploration of identity through my book, which I independently conceived, designed, and produced. Titled “Afranj,” it reflects my experiences as a third-generation individual navigating the complexities of belonging and cultural identity. The term historically refers to Westerners in the Arab world, embodying both the allure and alienation of adopting foreign values. My journey has been marked by feelings of otherness and the pressure to conform, prompting deep introspection. Through concept development, photography, editorial layout design, material selection, and printing, I weave together a narrative that captures the struggle and beauty of self-discovery. My artwork—illustrated with symbols of tradition and modernity—celebrates the unique blend of cultures that define me, offering a visual dialogue on the themes of acceptance and freedom. Each piece is not merely a creation but a manifestation of my journey, inviting others to reflect on identities and experiences. Ultimately, my work serves as a testament to the strength found in diversity and the liberation that comes from embracing one's true self.
